According to the latest statistics from the Shanghai Customs, against the background of the overall decline in imports, China's imports from the second China International Import Expo exhibitors have increased against the trend, with imports totaling 3.09 trillion yuan in the first three quarters. An increase of 8.8 percent over the same period last year.

In the first three quarters, 31 provinces in China had records of imports from exhibitors. Of this total, Beijing's imports from exhibitors totaled 603.18 billion yuan, up 12.8 percent, accounting for 19.5 percent, while Guangdong and Shanghai imported 398.14 billion yuan and 373.29 billion yuan, up 3 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively, accounting for 12.9 percent and 12.1 percent, respectively.

From the perspective of imported goods, in the first three quarters, China imported 596.15 billion yuan of crude oil from exhibitors, an increase of 13.8%, accounting for 19.3%, making it the largest category of imported goods. Imports of integrated circuits and iron ore and their concentrates totaled 183 billion yuan and 169.61 billion yuan, up 18.5 percent and 31.7 percent, respectively. Over the same period, soybean imports totaled 141.68 billion yuan, down 4.4 percent.

Imports of consumer goods such as meat, aquatic seafood and cosmetics have increased rapidly. In the first three quarters, China's total imports of consumer goods totaled 320.52 billion yuan, an increase of 25.5 percent, accounting for 10.4 percent, or 1.4 percentage points higher. Of this total, imports of meat and aquatic seafood totaled 42.38 billion yuan and 41.32 billion yuan, up 58.9 percent and 66 percent, respectively; imports of cosmetics totaled 21.12 billion yuan, up 47.1 percent; and imports of clothing totaled 21.03 billion yuan, up 10.8 percent.
