The first "rendezvous" of the Snow Dragon Brothers
Xinhua News Agency, "Xuelong 2", November 7 (Reporter Liu Shiping) the "Xuelong" polar inspection icebreaker docked at the Australian port of Hobart on the morning of the 7th local time to "meet" with the "Xuelong 2" already docked here. This is the first "rendezvous" of the Snow Dragon Brothers.
Prior to this, the "Xuelong 2" sailed from Shenzhen on October 15 and docked at the port of Hobart on November 4. The Snow Dragon departed from Shanghai on 22 October and arrived at the Anchorage outside the port of Hobart on 6 November.
Located at about 43 degrees south latitude, Hobart is a well-known "Antarctic gateway" city. The Snow Dragon docked at Hobart Port for the first time in 1994 and has since become an important replenishment port for Chinese Antarctic research ships en route to Zhongshan Station. The port of Hobart is also the outer port where the Snow Dragon 2 docked for the first time. The Snow Dragon 2 and the Snow Dragon will travel from here to Zhongshan Station in Antarctica and rendezvous there.
The 36th Antarctic Expedition in China is the first Antarctic expedition carried out by Xuelong 2, and it is also the first time that China has carried out "double dragon exploration of the South Pole." Emphasis will be placed on the implementation of "2 ships" ("Xue long 2" and "Xue long"), "3 Hai" (astronaut Sea, Amundsen Sea, Ross Sea), "4 stations" (Zhongshan Station, Great Wall Station, An inspection of Taishan Station and the new Nkosburg Island Station under construction.
