Beijing: students' use of electronic products will be strictly controlled
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, 7 Nov (Reporter Zhao Yuwei) in order to further strengthen the comprehensive prevention and control of myopia among children and adolescents, Beijing issued on 7 November the "Ten measures for the Prevention and Control of myopia among Children and adolescents in Beijing" and the implementation of a safeguard plan. Make clear requirements for students' use of electronic products, teachers' use of electronic screens, students' homework, participation in sports activities and so on.
The measure was jointly issued by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Municipal Health and Health Commission, the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, the Beijing Municipal Market Supervision Administration and other 10 departments. The use of electronic products by students is strictly controlled, including students' personal mobile phones, tablets and other electronic products are strictly prohibited into the classroom, brought into the school to carry out unified custody; The cumulative length of teachers' use of electronic screens for teaching shall not exceed 30% of the total length of teaching; it is strictly forbidden for children under the age of 8 to play video games; and children shall not use electronic screens for more than one hour a day.
In terms of reducing the academic burden of students, measures stipulate that schools should arrange students' homework time reasonably, and it is strictly forbidden to assign written homework in the first and second grade of primary school. Strict protection of children's sleep time, kindergarten and primary school students sleep not less than 10 hours a day, junior high school students not less than 9 hours, high school students not less than 8 hours.
In the aspect of strengthening physical education and extracurricular exercise, measures are put forward to strictly prohibit the occupation of physical education class hours and large recess, primary and middle school students in school sports activities not less than 1 hour a day, the use of after-school service time to give priority to the arrangement of sports activities; Under normal circumstances, the outdoor activity time of the kindergarten shall not be less than 2 hours per day, and the boarding kindergarten shall not be less than 3 hours, of which the sports activity time shall not be less than 1 hour.
In addition, the measures also put forward special requirements for parents, including parents to guide their children, especially preschool children, to use electronic products reasonably and to guide their children to arrange their homework time rationally and urge their children to do a good job in eye health exercises. Guide children to carry out outdoor activities or physical exercise every day, accompany or urge children to complete winter and summer sports homework.
The measures also include strictly implementing the management of students' work and rest, vigorously strengthening health education in schools, strictly implementing daily monitoring of eyesight, effectively improving the teaching environment in schools, and strengthening daily intervention in students' visual health. Vigorously promote students' diet health, strengthen evaluation and assessment and so on.
