A number of new achievements have been made in the protection and restoration of geotechnical cultural relics in China
Xinhua News Agency, Chongqing, 8 Nov (reporters Zhou Wenchong and Zhang Xinyi) the reporter learned from the International Symposium on the Protection, inheritance and Development of China's Geotechnical Cultural relics being held here, China's cultural relics protection workers have made a number of phased achievements in the scientific cognition and prediction of geotechnical cultural relics diseases, protection materials, reinforcement technology and so on.
Geotechnical relics include cave temples, soil sites, cliff caves, cliff statues, tombs, murals and other types. Of the about 900000 immovable cultural relics in the country, geotechnical cultural relics buildings and sites account for about half. Li Li, director of the Cultural Heritage Restoration Institute of the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, said at the seminar that in recent years, the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage and other cultural heritage protection and scientific research institutions have carried out basic research and practical work on the protection of more than 30 geotechnical cultural relics throughout the country. A number of developments have been made.
These developments include that through experimental analysis, the researchers found the important structure to maintain the water-gas permeability of soil and improve the strength and water stability of soil. The reinforcement materials with high compatibility and strong weather resistance have been developed, and a complete set of reinforcement technology, repair technology and mature material system have been formed. The traditional lime material in China has been scientifically modified and used in the restoration of geotechnical and brick pottery cultural relics, the maintenance of ancient buildings and the grouting reinforcement of empty drum murals, which has a good reinforcement effect and application prospect. New experimental conclusions are provided for the protection of limestone grottoes, especially for the reinforcement, permeability and permeability of seepage cracks.
Li Li said that some of the research results have been applied in many geotechnical cultural relics protection projects, such as Chengde Summer Resort, Quanzhou Jiuri Mountain Cliff Stone carving, Dazu Stone carving Xiaofowan, and so on.
Chai Xiaoming, president of the Chinese Academy of Cultural Heritage, said that although some research breakthroughs have been made, there are a variety of types of geotechnical cultural relics diseases in China, and there is still a lack of mature and series of integrated technical support. Li Li said: at present, it is urgent to carry out the inheritance and utilization of traditional technologies and techniques in the protection of geotechnical cultural relics, and at the same time, we also need to continue to strengthen the research on the application of new materials, new technologies, and new analytical methods.
From November 5 to 8, an international symposium on the protection, inheritance and development of geotechnical relics was held in Dazu, Chongqing, under the guidance of the State Administration of Cultural relics and sponsored by the China Academy of Cultural Heritage and the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism.
