Windhoek, 8 Nov (Xinhua) on 8 November, Sun Chunlan, vice premier of the State Council, who is on a visit to the region, attended the "Guangming trip" in Namibia.
In the presence of Sun Chunlan, Chinese ophthalmologists opened the gauze for patients undergoing cataract surgery. Sun Chunlan congratulated the patient on seeing the light again and gave away glasses to protect his eyesight. She said: the "Guangming trip" is a vivid example of the deepening friendship between China and Namibia, and it is also an important measure for the Chinese Government to actively implement the "Health Action" of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. China is willing to continue to support the development of medical and health undertakings in Namibia, carry out more projects that directly benefit the people, promote the convergence of the hearts and minds of the people of the two countries, and lay a solid foundation for deepening friendship between China and Namibia and jointly building a community with a shared future between China and Africa.
Sun Chunlan also watched Windhoek Central Hospital and Beijing Union Medical College Hospital use the Internet for remote consultation of fundus diseases, and exchanged with medical staff in China and Namibia. The "Guangming trip" is the second time that the Chinese government has sent medical experts to the country, where 240 operations will be performed. In May last year, the "Guangming trip" campaign implemented by the Chinese side free of charge for more than 200 cataract patients underwent fuming surgery, which was highly praised and widely praised by the local people. Since 2011, the Chinese government has conducted 45 "bright trips" in more than 30 countries in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean, bringing light back to tens of thousands of patients. At the same time, Chinese experts have actively assisted in the training of local medical personnel, leaving behind "doctors who do not leave."
