The Snow Dragon crossed the westerly belt into the Southern Ocean a day later than the Snow Dragon 2, but caught up because of its faster speed. After that, the Snow Dragon exceeded the starboard side of the Snow Dragon 2 until it was out of sight.
When it met with the Snow Dragon, the Snow Dragon 2 also first encountered Antarctic icebergs about 4 nautical miles (1 nautical mile) away.
At present, the "Snow Dragon Brothers" are driving from east to west to Zhongshan Station near 61 degrees south latitude. At 13:15 Beijing time on the 14th, the Xuelong 2 was 1581 nautical miles from Zhongshan Station. Zhao Yanping, captain of the Xue long 2, predicted that the two ships would rendezvous at the floating ice zone outside Prydz Bay on the 19th and then head to Zhongshan Station together.
