China's lottery sales fell 17.7% in the first three quarters
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, 14 Nov (Reporter Liu Hongxia) according to data released by the Ministry of Finance on the 14th, a total of 315.809 billion yuan of lottery tickets were sold nationwide in the first three quarters of this year, down 67.689 billion yuan or 17.7 percent from the same period last year.
Of the 310 billion yuan of large plates, welfare lottery sales totaled 143.1 billion yuan, down 22.211 billion yuan, or 13.4%, compared with the same period last year, while sports lottery sales totaled 172.709 billion yuan, down 45.478 billion yuan, or 20.8 percent, from the same period last year.
In September, a total of 36.399 billion yuan of lottery tickets were sold nationwide, down 5.445 billion yuan, or 13 percent, from a year earlier. Of this total, welfare lottery sales totaled 15.692 billion yuan, down 2.133 billion yuan, or 12 percent, compared with the same period last year, while sports lottery sales totaled 20.707 billion yuan, down 3.313 billion yuan, or 13.8 percent, from the same period last year.
From the perspective of lottery types, in September, lottery digital, competitive, open, video and Kino lottery sales accounted for 53.1%, 31.4%, 6.9%, 8.5% and 0.1% of the total lottery sales, respectively.
Specifically, lottery digital lottery sales of 19.324 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.104 billion yuan, down 9.8%, competitive lottery sales of 11.425 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.162 billion yuan, down 21.7%; Instant lottery sales totaled 2.526 billion yuan, an increase of 576 million yuan, an increase of 29.5 percent, while video lottery sales totaled 3.109 billion yuan, down 760 million yuan, or 19.6 percent, compared with the same period last year. Sales of Kino lottery tickets totaled 15 million yuan, an increase of 5 million yuan, or 50.2 percent, over the same period last year.
In September, lottery sales in Chongqing, Sichuan, Tibet and Qinghai increased by 108 million yuan, 85 million yuan, 15 million yuan and 4 million yuan, respectively, compared with the same period last year.
From January to September, only Sichuan Province saw an increase in lottery sales, an increase of 1.302 billion yuan over the same period last year.
The Ministry of Finance requires that lottery organizations at all levels closely track and analyze new situations and new problems, earnestly strengthen the issuance and sales of lottery tickets, and ensure the smooth operation of the market. Financial departments at all levels should further strengthen supervision, actively create a good external environment, maintain normal order in the market, and promote the healthy development of the lottery cause.
