Xinhua News Agency, Vientiane, 14 Nov (Reporter Zhang Jianhua)-- on the afternoon of 14 November, Ben Yang, general secretary of the Central Committee and President of the Lao people's Revolutionary Party, met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe in Vientiane.
Benyang welcomed Wei Fenghe's visit to Laos and asked him to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to General Secretary Xi Jinping. Wei Fenghe conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping's cordial greetings and best wishes to Ben Yang.
Ben Yang said: Laos highly values and sincerely congratulates the great achievements made by the people's Republic of China in the 70 years since its founding, and has always remembered and thanked the CPC, the government, and the army for their long-term support and assistance. We will, as always, adhere to the one-China policy. At present, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Laos and China is developing well, and the relations between the two armed forces are in the best period in history. The Lao party and government fully support the exchanges and cooperation between the two armed forces at all levels in all fields and continue to strengthen the unity and friendship between the two countries.
Wei Fenghe said: China and Laos are a community with a shared future. Under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Ben Yang, relations between the two armed forces of China and Laos have developed healthily and steadily, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results. China thanks Laos for its firm support on issues involving China's core interests. The Chinese army is willing to work with the Lao side to implement the important consensus between the leaders of the two parties and the two countries, strengthen strategic communication, deepen practical cooperation, and close multilateral coordination, so as to make greater contributions to the development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
