Application of umbilical Cord Blood in Cord Blood Bank of Guangdong Province: a report of 2099 cases

The Guangdong Provincial umbilical Cord Blood Hematopoietic Stem Cell Bank announced on the same day that as of October 31, 2019, the bank had used umbilical cord blood in 2099 cases and treated 1673 people.
Umbilical cord blood is the blood collected from the umbilical vein in the shortest time after the delivery of the umbilical cord. In the past three decades, medical research has found that umbilical cord blood is rich in hematopoietic stem cells and has the function of rebuilding blood and immune system.
Guangdong umbilical Cord Blood Bank is responsible for the collection, preparation, detection, cryopreservation and distribution of umbilical cord blood in Guangdong Province. According to the person in charge of the Guangdong Provincial umbilical Cord Blood Bank, as of October 31, 2019, 2099 cases of umbilical cord blood had been used in the Guangdong Provincial umbilical Cord Blood Bank, and 1673 people had been treated. The patients were mainly distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Anhui, Chongqing, Hebei, Hunan, Fujian, Jiangxi and other places.
Among the more than 2000 cases of umbilical cord blood out of the bank, the top five diseases were aplastic anemia, acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, severe β-thalassemia and lymphoma. In addition, it also includes cerebral palsy, mucopolysaccharide disease, hemophagocytic syndrome, myelodysplastic syndrome, autism, neuroblastoma and so on.
