From the flights passing through the border between China and Laos, a regular, relatively straight route has been embedded in northern Laos, lying in the mountains, crossing ravines, rivers and fields, drawing small arcs around villages and towns. Before the completion of the construction, the China-Laos Railway had rallied the friendship between the two peoples.
The second Bureau of China Railway is located in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, at the southern end of the China-Laos Railway. At the beginning of the project, Liangchang staff temporarily rented a village inn in Wanmani, a villager in Songpeidai Village. Since then, no matter how tight the rooms are, Wanmani has reserved rooms for "old friends"; At the weddings of Wanmani relatives and the first birthday of his grandson, a group of special Chinese faces can always be seen in the "VIP seat". Vamani has treated Chinese engineers as family members. "the Chinese boys come to us to build railways, far from home, and we treat them like relatives." Vanmani told reporters.
The love of this loved one extends farther to the southernmost tip of Laos. After the dam break accident at the Asupo reservoir in southern Laos in July last year, hundreds of builders from the participating units of the China-Laos Railway rushed to the disaster area and participated in the construction of bridges in the disaster area for more than 40 days, and were awarded the Lao National Development Medal and the Prime Minister's commendation order.
During the construction period, the materials and equipment of the second Bureau of the China Railway were stored in the houses of Puta Bay, a villager, and Puta Bay took the initiative to assist in carrying materials and making midnight snacks for Chinese engineers fighting day and night. Before leaving, the China Railway second Bureau team connected wires, installed lights in front of the Puta Bay house, and repaired a cement road in the muddy yard. In October 2018, the Vientiane Beam Field of the second Bureau of China Railway went to Asupo to recruit workers. Because of the good public foundation, recruitment of workers one after another, more than 200 locals went to work in the beam factory, filling the problem of labor shortage in the construction of Vientiane beam farm in the dry season.
Throughout the China-Laos Railway, Chinese participating units have actively donated funds to assist students, train local staff, free clinic and medicine delivery, assist in the construction of roads and drinking water projects and other infrastructure, invite local people to participate in cultural and sports activities, and actively participate in local traditional festival activities. The valuable friendship between the two countries has been cultivated on the railway site between China and Laos. Among them, Chinese engineers have contributed and gained valuable understanding.
At the mountain construction site in the middle of the China-Laos Railway, many Chinese employees and couples in the China Hydropower 14 Bureau China-Laos Railway Project Department have been separated from each other for a long time, and they often miss out on important moments in the growth of their children. Project manager Xu Youliang has been at the construction site for a long time, leaving messages to his daughter's WeChat circle of friends as soon as he is free. Colleagues in the project department still remember that one day in May last year, Xu Youliang excitedly announced: "my daughter finally replied to my message in the circle of friends!" This is my happiest thing in recent years! "
These contributions and feelings have also made the Chinese staff involved in the construction of the China-Laos railway even more cherish their friendly feelings towards Laos and the friendship of the Lao people.
Zhang Linlin is an interpreter for the China-Laos Railway Project Department of the 14th Hydropower Bureau of China. After studying in Laos, Zhang Linlin returned to the mountains of Laos to participate in railway construction. She told reporters: "I am glad that I am learning Lao language. No matter where I walk in Laos, I can always feel the Lao people's friendship to the Chinese people and praise for China's prosperity and strength. I am glad that I have been able to respond to the call of the country and witness with my own eyes the prosperity and development that the construction of the China-Laos railway has brought to the Lao people. In just two years, I have seen with my own eyes the great changes brought about by the construction of the China-Laos railway. "
The tree of friendship between Chinese and old builders also bears wonderful fruits of love. On May 20, 2018, the first transnational engagement ceremony for the China-Laos railway project was held at the China-Laos Railway Project Department of the second Vientiane China Railway Bureau. Xiong Yinghao, an employee of the ministry, and Wang Ni, a Lao girl, held an engagement ceremony at the woman's home. The two met, knew and loved each other in the process of participating in the construction of China-Laos railway. At the northernmost end of the China-Laos Railway, the Project Department of the China Railway Fifth Bureau already has at least four multinational couples, technician Yuan Zhixiang and Ah Fen, a Lao girl who runs a barbecue shop next to the construction site, ushered in the crystallization of love in June 2019. Project colleagues who have heard the good news have sent blessings and enthusiastically named the children.
The China-Laos railway, which starts from the border between the two countries in the north and reaches Vientiane in the south, is the first overseas railway project that is mainly invested by the Chinese side, operated jointly by China and Laos, and is directly connected with China's railway network. The total length of the line is 414 km, of which the length of the bridge is nearly 62 km and the length of the tunnel is nearly 198 km. The China-Laos railway line adopts Chinese technical standards and uses Chinese equipment. The project started in December 2016 and is scheduled to be completed and opened to traffic in December 2021.
