Power transmission from west to east has exceeded 200 billion degrees for three consecutive years in five southern provinces and regions
Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, 15 Nov (Reporter Wu Tao)-the Southern Power Grid Corporation announced a few days ago that the power transmission of electricity from west to east in five southern provinces and autonomous regions exceeded 200 billion kilowatt hours (degrees), which exceeded 200 billion kilowatt hours for three consecutive years. With the completion of Kunliulong multi-terminal DC and other projects, the power transmission capacity of power transmission from west to east will be greatly improved next year.
According to data from the Southern Power Grid, the capacity of the transmission channel of electricity from the west to the east continued to expand between 2003 and 2018, resulting in a significant increase in electricity transmission, from 26.6 billion kilowatt hours to 217.5 billion kilowatt hours, an average annual growth rate of 15 percent. Power transmission from west to east is expected to reach 220 billion kilowatt hours this year.
Through the large platform of power transmission from west to east to promote the optimal allocation of resources, not only to ensure the economic and social electricity demand of the five southern provinces and regions, promote the gradual decline of electricity costs, but also effectively expand the channels of clean energy consumption in the west and promote the development of the local economy.
Clean hydropower in Yunnan is the main force of power transmission from west to east in the southern region, accounting for more than 60% of the total electricity transmission from west to east. At the beginning of this year, major reservoirs such as Xiaowan and Nuozhadu in Yunnan were operating at high levels, and Yunnan hydropower storage was 8 billion kilowatt hours more than the same period last year. China Southern Power Grid Company formulated a pre-flood fluctuation plan in advance to increase the supply of surplus hydropower in Yunnan. By the end of October, Yunnan's power transmission from west to east was 129.09 billion kilowatt hours, more than half of the total power generation in Yunnan, and an additional 7.09 billion kilowatt hours over the annual plan.
"this year, China Southern Power Grid is increasing the capacity of power transmission from west to east by continuously expanding the scale of market-oriented transactions and improving channel capacity-building." Liu Yingshan, deputy chief engineer of Southern Power Grid, said that at present, the plus or minus 800 kV Kunliulong multi-terminal DC project and the plus or minus 500 kV Gaozhao DC project are under intensive construction, and two new power transmission arteries from west to east are expected to be added by 2020. After the completion of these two major projects, Yunnan's power transmission capacity will increase by 11 million kilowatts to 42.15 million kilowatts, when the power transmission from west to east is expected to reach a new high.
