The last hardened road through township in Xinjiang
Xinhua News Agency, Urumqi, November 15 (Reporter Li Zhihao and Oman) Tartagke Township, Aktao County, located in the depths of the Kunlun Mountains, is the last township in Xinjiang where the road is not smooth. A few days ago, the road project in the reservoir area of the Altash Water Control Project was completed. An 82.07 km long Panshan road runs through the cliffs of the Kunlun Mountains, upgrading the road connecting the Tartagk township from a narrow dirt road to a hardened road. It marks the last hardened road in Xinjiang.
The road project is located at the junction of Khosh Rafu Township and Kusraf Township, Aktao County, Xinjiang, with an investment of 517 million. The total length of the road is 82.07 kilometers, and the elevation is between 1700 meters and 3500 meters above sea level. It includes four traffic tunnels with a total length of 2 kilometers and seven bridges. According to the fourth grade highway standard construction, the roadbed width 4.5 meters, the design speed 20 kilometers / hour.
Yang Jie, director of the immigration department of the Altash Water Control Project Construction Administration (hereinafter referred to as "Altash Construction Administration"), said that the road project is part of the special restoration project for Altash immigrants. In the past, residents of Tartagk Township and many administrative villages along the route lived deep in the mountains and traveled by a long, narrow dirt road sandwiched between the two mountains with a width of less than three meters. At the foot of the Yerqiang River, there were continuous mountains and ravines on both sides. There are many difficulties for the masses to travel.
In 2015, in order to solve the serious flooding problem of the Yeerqiang River and change the power shortage in the river basin and the three prefectures in southern Xinjiang, the construction of the main project of the Altash Water Control Project officially began. China Nuclear Group Xinhua Hydropower Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xinhua Power Generation") is responsible for the development and construction.
But the construction of the water conservancy project will inundate the long, narrow dirt road leading to the Taltagk township. To this end, the Altash Construction Administration has set up a special road inundation restoration project, focusing on solving the travel problems of the people in the mountainous areas of the plateau and rebuilding a new road with high standards.
Since August 2018, the restoration of road inundation in the Altash Water Conservancy Pivot District has officially begun. Gao Fei, deputy manager of the Construction and Management Department of Xinhua Power Generation Yehe Company, said that the road project in the reservoir area is a major upgrading and transformation on the basis of the original "Shata Highway" with a history of 1,000 years. In many places, it is necessary to reopen the road on the cliffs and build a dangerous environment. The construction is very difficult.
On 10 November, many difficulties were overcome, and in just 14 months, the road related to the unobstructed access of the Taltagk township and a number of administrative villages along the route was officially opened.
As a key traffic poverty alleviation project in Xinjiang in 2019, the road project in Altash water conservancy pivot district will have an important push to promote poverty alleviation and local economic development in southern Xinjiang.
