At a news conference held on the same day, Meng Wei said that the China-Laos Railway, the China-Thailand Railway, the Yavan High-speed Railway and the Hungarian-Cyprus Railway have made solid progress, and projects such as Gwadar Port, Hambantota Port, Piraeus Port and Khalifa Port are progressing smoothly. By the end of October, the cumulative number of China-EU trains had reached nearly 20,000.
She said: from January to September this year, China imported and exported a total of about US $950 billion to countries along the Belt and Road, and invested more than US $10 billion in non-financial direct investment in countries along the Belt and Road. Steady progress has been made in the China-Belarus Industrial Park, the China-Arab (United Arab Emirates) production capacity Cooperation Park, and the China-Egypt Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone.
Meng Wei said that China has successively established bilateral local currency swap arrangements with more than 20 countries along the route and RMB clearing arrangements with seven countries. The "Belt and Road Initiative" debt Sustainability Analysis Framework was officially released, the multilateral Development Finance Cooperation Center was established, and the capacity Building Centre was established jointly with the International Monetary Fund. A series of achievements have been made in scientific and technological exchanges, educational cooperation, cultural tourism, green development and foreign assistance.
