The number of travel agencies offering cruise products and services has increased to more than 800, and the number of institutions of higher learning offering cruise-related courses has grown to 130.

Zheng Weihang, secretary-general of the Cruise Yacht Branch of the China Transport Association, said the data show that China's cruise market is entering a period of strategic adjustment from high-speed growth to high-quality development. According to the statistics of the Cruise Yacht Branch of the China Communications Association, a total of 969 international cruise ships were received by 13 cruise ports along the coast of the country in 2018, down 17.95 percent from the same period last year. The total number of cruise passengers entering and leaving the country was 4.906 million, down 0.98 percent from the same period last year.
However, under the market of negative growth in the reception of cruise tourists in some ports in East China and North China, the ports of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Haikou continue to maintain rapid growth. On November 17, Guangzhou Nansha Cruise Home Port will hold its maiden voyage. Guangzhou, as the host city of the conference, has operated 320 inbound and outbound cruise ships since its launch in January 2016. it has received 1.2107 million inbound and outbound passengers, ranking third in the country in terms of business scale for three consecutive years. In the throes of the industry, international cruise companies have re-added to the Chinese market. In 2019, Discovery Star Dream Cruises, Venice Goshida Cruises and Ocean Spectrum Royal Caribbean Cruises made their maiden voyages in the Chinese market.
Chinese cruise companies are on the rise. On September 26, the Gulangyu Star Cruise made its maiden voyage in Xiamen. Star Travel Ocean Cruises is jointly funded by China Tourism Group and China Ocean Group.
Liu Zinan, chairman of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Asia region, believes that with the expansion of the size of China's middle-income families and the increase in the number of statutory holidays, the Chinese people's preference for tourism will change from sightseeing tourism to leisure vacation tourism.
