Farewell to "three uses" of Water in remote mountainous areas of Longan County, Guangxi
Xinhua News Agency, Nanning, November 16 (Reporter Qin Xinglei Jiaxing) from "looking at the draught of heaven" and "three uses" of a ladle of water to "using tap water" and "drinking water from heart to heart". In recent years, Longan County, Guangxi, which is located in the depths of Dashi Mountain area, has solved the problem of "draught difficulty" in remote mountainous areas through the construction of centralized and continuous cross-regional water supply projects, and the life of the masses has changed greatly as a result.
Longan County is located in Yunnan, Guangxi and Guizhou, one of the 14 poverty-stricken areas in China. Some villages in remote mountainous areas are short of water, and "dripping water is as expensive as oil".
At the same time, the difficulty of drinking water has always restricted the local economic development and poverty alleviation. "in the past, neither pigs nor cattle dared to raise more, fearing that they would compete for water with others. It is difficult for people to drink water. How can they raise livestock? " Dujie Township Longxuan Village Bulutun villagers Li Riliang said. If it does not rain, the water shortage area will begin to run out of water every December until around the Spring Festival next year. During the dry season, the people here have to "use three kinds of water"-the water from washing vegetables is then used to wash feet or clothes, and even slightly precipitated and filtered before feeding the animals.
A few years ago, local investigation found that more than 30,000 people in the county lived in concentrated drought areas in rocky desertification areas, and most of them used mountain springs or underground water tanks to solve the drinking water problem, although they had met the drinking water target of getting rid of poverty. However, from time to time, they are still plagued by seasonal water shortages, and the people in the mountainous areas are looking forward to getting rid of the predicament of "looking at the draught
At the end of 2016, the Longan County Party Committee and the county government changed the simple practice of building underground water tanks in the past, and adopted the method of centralized and continuous water supply across regions, so as to fundamentally solve the problems of water shortage and water supply difficulties in concentrated drought areas in rocky desertification areas.
Long Yuping, a cadre of the Longan County Water Conservancy Bureau, said that in the past three years, Longan County has successively completed three concentrated cross-regional water supply projects in three districts, and more than 18000 people have bid farewell to the "draft of the sky." At present, the centralized cross-regional water supply projects in the other two areas are being put into trial operation, which is helpful to fundamentally solve the problem of seasonal water shortage in the local rocky desertification concentrated arid areas.
During a visit to some villages in the arid area, the reporter saw that farmers have two sets of water pipes, one of which used to be connected to the underground water tank, and the other is a newly installed tap water pipe. Longxuantun villager Feng Yune turned on the faucet, looking at a stream of safe water, rest assured that the water flows to the home, his face is full of happy smile.
Li Min, the first secretary of Longxuan Village, said that Longxuan Village, as a deeply impoverished village, is almost entirely dryland. Before that, because of water shortage, even the basic farming industry could not be developed. Now that the bottleneck of water has been solved, the pattern of getting rid of poverty has suddenly become clear.
"instead of focusing on draught, villagers can free up more energy for development. People are still those people, but the train of thought is alive. At present, there are already four or five cattle raising more than three, and pigs are raised casually, and everyone has confidence and hope in getting rid of poverty and increasing income. " Li Min said.
