China plans to build a three-person space station around 2022
Xinhua News Agency, Guangzhou, 17 Nov (Reporter Wu Tao) Zhou Jianping, chief designer of China's manned space program and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the fourth (2019) China Human factors Engineering Summit Forum. Our country will complete the construction and operation of the space station around 2022, which will be 100 tons in size and can carry three people.
"the main goal of the construction of the space station is to enable China to independently master the technology of long-term manned flight in near-Earth space and to have the ability to carry out long-term near-Earth space personnel to participate in scientific experiments and the comprehensive development and utilization of space resources." Zhou Jianping said.
Zhou Jianping said: the construction of China's space station will follow the principles of conforming to national conditions and reflecting the strategic objectives of national development, make use of contemporary advanced technology, and attach importance to the application of benefits, the pursuit of operational economy, and moderate scale. At present, the initial design size of the space station is 100 tons, which can carry three people and reserve room for expansion.
According to reports, the space station will become the main platform for space science research in China in the future, and it has three objectives in science and technology: first, to master the construction and operation technology of large-scale space facilities to reach or approach the level of the International Space Station. And can make use of contemporary technical achievements, give full play to the advantages of backwardness to achieve transcendence.
The second is to master the life and health protection technology of astronauts who often fly in orbit. Human is the core factor in the construction and application of space station. Only by enabling astronauts to live healthily can they work efficiently.
Third, the construction of the National Space Laboratory to provide scientists with a high-level scientific research platform, with a view to achieving the goal of major breakthroughs in a number of fields of science.
The China Human factors Engineering Summit Forum, co-sponsored by the China manned Space Engineering Office and Sun Yat-sen University, was launched by the China Astronaut Research and training Center Human Research and training Center. The forum was held in Guangzhou from 16 to 17.
