Cutting oranges, sorting fruits, harvesting vegetables, feeding ostriches, transporting wood. In the early winter, located in southern Xinjiang, Luzhai County, Guangxi, the vast rural areas of a hot production scene, a piece of the earth "harvest map" from time to time into the eye.
The mountain is full of "golden fruit"
In November, honey oranges in Pingshan town ushered in a bumper harvest. Climb the orange industry demonstration area of the mountain overlooking, thousands of acres of golden fruit trees distributed in the continuous ups and downs of green water and green mountains, the scene is spectacular.
"there is no citrus here before it is a wasteland, and most of the poor households around it." Tao Youtuan, chairman of the Luzhai County Youtuan Fruit Professional Cooperative, said that now barren mountains have become orchards, and fruit trees have become "cash trees" for poor households.
Under the branches "bent down" by a string of fruits, Wei Shiqiong, wearing a straw hat and holding scissors, was picking the "golden fruit" quickly. After a while, the plastic basket in front of her was full.
In 2015, with the support of helping cadres, Wei Shiqiong, a poor family, contracted 18 acres of land in the village to grow oranges and oranges. By growing fruit, the Wei Shiqiong family was lifted out of poverty last year. "now that I have finished my work at home, I will come to work in a co-operative and earn hundreds of dollars a day."
With a mountain full of oranges, there is no shortage of job opportunities. More and more Pingshan farmers choose to return home for development, with more than 1000 people returning home last year alone. Wu Juyan, a villager in Liuliang Village, is sorting tangerines in a fruit factory. "I've been working here for four or five years. I can earn more than 100 yuan a day, and I'm in charge of rice at noon." Huang Xueyong, mayor of Pingshan Town, said that more than 400 poor households in the town are engaged in sorting work in more than 40 fruit factories in the town.
Wei Hongying, deputy head of Luzhai County, told reporters that the county party committee and county government have vigorously implemented the "excellent fruit project," and the fruit industry has become a pillar industry for farmers to get rid of poverty and increase their income. In 2019, the county's fruit planting area is 320000 mu, with an estimated output of 300000 tons.
"now that the oranges are branded, buyers from all over the world have come to collect them." Liao Qiu, a villager in Xialong Xing Village, who owns a family farm, told reporters that this year he is expected to have a harvest of nearly 200000 jin and earn more than 300,000 yuan. Today, he has not only lifted himself out of poverty by growing oranges, but also started farming in citrus fields.
The policy of benefiting agriculture turns wasteland into fertile land
Driving along the country road in Pingshan town, the green mustard grows vigorously. A year ago, the land was a wasteland of "nothing to grow".
"the land used to grow sugar cane, but when it came to the rainy season, the groundwater poured up and all flooded, and there was little harvest." Huang Xueyong said that relying on the policy of linking the increase and decrease of land, the town has received funds for repairs, leveled the land, hardened the field roads, and built irrigation facilities and drains.
When the reporter came to the Hedaotun "drought to Water" project in Shilong Village, Pingshan Town, he was seeing several villagers busy taking care of the vegetable garden. Today, when dryland is transformed into paddy field, rice can be grown twice a year, and mustard can be planted after autumn harvest.
The original dryland and abandoned land were transformed into fertile land and transformed into a "land bank" for farmers.
"in September this year, large growers planted 200 mu of meat mustard, employing an average of 30 villagers a day to work." Huang Xueyong said that large growers give priority to poor families to work in the fields. "there are more than a dozen poor families here alone, with an income of 130 yuan per person per day."
Zhang Jianhua, director of the Luzhai County Committee Office, said: this year, eight land increase and decrease hanging projects are under construction in the county, with an implementation scale of more than 3200 mu, and it is estimated that more than 1000 mu of cultivated land will be reclaimed. Of these, 23 moved to help the poor and relocate poor households.
Returning to work and starting a business
Driving in the village of Luzhai, the road is lush on both sides. The forest coverage rate of Luzhai is nearly 70%, and the area of economic forest is about 3.4 million mu. The local forestry science and technology industrial park was built, which led many villagers to get rid of poverty and become rich.
In Liuzhou Honglian Wood Co., Ltd., in the Forestry Science and Technology Industry Park, Guo Guixue from Lagou Township is busy in the workshop. Guo Guixue used to be a poor family and has been working in a foreign country. "when I returned to my hometown and worked here, I had an income of more than 100,000 yuan in less than three years, more than in other places, and the key was to be able to take care of my family."
Chen Pan, director of the Luzhai County Comprehensive Service Center for Poverty Alleviation and Development, said that 65 of the more than 1300 employed people in the forestry science and technology industrial park are poor, earning an average of about 3500 yuan per person per month.
At the Shimen village ostrich breeding base, a few months old ostrich shuttles back and forth, poking out its head from time to time to beg for food. Qin Tianming, who originally opened a clothing factory in Guangzhou, returned home to raise an ostrich and picked up mulberry branches discarded by villagers in the past to feed the ostrich. "there are more than 200 ostriches on the farm. I am responsible for building the base, providing technology and seedlings to the villagers, and selling ostriches in a unified way, so that the villagers can earn only 1,000 at a time." Qin Tianming chatted while feeding the ostrich.
He Shiqia, secretary of the Luzhai County CPC Committee, said that the county party committee and the county government have focused on building anti-poverty industries around the goal of "townships have characteristic industries, villages have leading industries, and households have projects to increase income." From 2016 to 2018, a total of 19 poor villages in the county were lifted out of poverty, with the number of poor people falling from 27587 to more than 14000, and the number of poor households from 7722 to more than 4200.
