Thai Prime Minister Prayuth meets with Wei Fenghe
Xinhua News Agency, Bangkok, 17 Nov (Reporter Wang Jin Ming Dajun) on the morning of 17 November, Thai Prime Minister and Defense Minister Prayuth met with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister Wei Fenghe in Bangkok.
Prayuth first asked Wei Fenghe to convey his sincere greetings and best wishes to Premier President Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang. He said: the Thai side is pleased to see the close high-level exchanges between Thailand and China and the in-depth development of exchanges and cooperation in various fields. Thailand firmly adheres to the one-China policy and actively participates in the joint construction of "Belt and Road Initiative." The Thai side hopes to take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2020 as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with China in economic, trade and other fields, welcome China to invest more in Thailand, and hope that the two armed forces will continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in joint training, equipment technology, multilateral security, and other fields. We will push the relations between the two armed forces to a new level.
Wei Fenghe conveyed the cordial greetings and best wishes of President Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang to Prime Minister Prayuth. He said: under the guidance and promotion of the leaders of the two countries, Sino-Thai relations have maintained a good momentum of development, and exchanges and cooperation in various fields have yielded fruitful results. China thanks Thailand for its firm support on issues involving China's core interests. The Chinese army is willing to work with Thailand to implement the consensus between the leaders of the two countries, strengthen high-level communication, promote practical cooperation, maintain multilateral coordination, and jointly safeguard regional security and stability.
After the meeting, Prayuth and Wei Fenghe jointly signed a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation between the defense ministries of the two countries.
On the afternoon of the 15th, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Bawyer held talks with Wei Fenghe.
Wei Fenghe arrived in Bangkok on the 15th for an official goodwill visit to Thailand.
