The three-day eighth St. Petersburg International Cultural Forum ended a few days ago in St. Petersburg, a famous historical and cultural city in Russia. Led by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, China Foreign Culture Group Co., Ltd. organized a number of domestic well-known art units to participate in the performance and exchange activities of the forum. Among them, the Shanghai National Orchestra held a tour of Russia in 2019 and held many concerts such as "Ode to Peace in Sea Life and Folk Music" with Russian artists. Changsha Symphony Orchestra and Russian musicians formed a large band of nearly 100 people to perform the "Friendship of the people" concert in St. Petersburg Philharmonic Hall on the 14th. According to the play "our Jing Ke" by Mo Yan, a famous contemporary Chinese writer, the Russian version of the play "killing the King" met with the audience in St. Petersburg on the evening of the 14th. At the same time, the Chinese side also sent a number of experts and scholars in music, art, film, drama and other fields to participate in various sub-forum activities and conducted in-depth dialogue and exchanges with cultural experts from various countries.
In his speech at the forum, Russian Minister of Culture Mejinski said that the granting of the status of China as the guest of honor at this forum is not only a tribute to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China. It is also a symbol of the further strengthening of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Russia and China in the field of culture in the new era.
Kropatchev, president of St. Petersburg National University, who attended the forum, said in an interview that the fact that China has become the principal guest of the forum illustrates Russia's concern about the spread of Chinese culture in Russia. At present, more than 30,000 Chinese students are studying in Russia, and more than 20,000 Russian students are studying in China.
