Ministry of Science and Technology issues 2019 Annual report on Global Ecological Environment remote Sensing Monitoring
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, 22 Nov (Reporter Hu Zhe) what are the changes in global forest cover? What is the yield of bulk grain and oil crops? On November 22, the Ministry of Science and Technology issued the 2019 Annual report on remote Sensing Monitoring of the Global Ecological Environment in Beijing, paying continuous attention to hot issues and key areas of the global ecological environment. Focus on the four topics of "Global forest cover status and change", "Global land degradation situation", "Global major natural disasters and impacts" and "Global situation of bulk grain and oil crop production and food security" to carry out remote sensing monitoring and analysis.
It is reported that with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Finance, the National remote Sensing Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology has continuously carried out the annual report on remote sensing monitoring of the global ecological environment, in conjunction with the State key Laboratory of remote Sensing Science. Cross-departmental organizations of the top domestic scientific research forces, carried out the global and regional scale ecological environment remote sensing product research and development and monitoring analysis.
Wang Qian, director of the National remote Sensing Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, said that since the start of this work in 2012, on the basis of maintaining the principle of inheritance and emphasizing development, The annual report revolves around three major themes: typical elements of the global ecological environment, global eco-environmental hot issues and global key areas. In seven phases, it has been released one after another, including the growth of land vegetation, the temporal and spatial distribution of land surface water area, the global production situation of grain and oil crops, the distribution of urban and rural construction land, large-scale international important wetlands, and the temporal and spatial distribution of global carbon sources and sinks. A total of 18 thematic reports on land cover in Africa, the ecological environment situation of China-ASEAN and the ecological environment status of "Belt and Road Initiative", It has provided a strong information support for dealing with global climate change and promoting regional sustainable development, which has aroused widespread concern from all walks of life and has been highly appraised by international counterparts.
"in the process of compiling the report, attention was paid to absorbing the research results of the national science and technology plan in the field of earth observation and navigation technology and relevant departments, using observational data from domestic and foreign satellites, including meteorology, environment, resources, and high scores. The first set of international longest time series global vegetation productivity products was generated, and the trend of global land degradation and restoration since 2000 was analyzed. The impact and recovery of 15 typical global droughts, floods, tropical cyclones, forest fires and earthquake disasters from 2018 to the first half of 2019 were analyzed, and the monitoring and analysis of the food security situation in Africa was added. The scientific and authoritative nature of the report has been ensured. " Wang Qian said.
