Yunnan Province launches "Guangming trip" in Laos
Xinhua News Agency, Vientiane, 22 Nov (Reporter Zhang Jianhua) China's Yunnan Province launched a "Guangming trip" in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on 22 November, planning to perform free surgery for 100 cataract patients.
The event is sponsored by the Yunnan Folk International Friendship Exchange Foundation, and the medical team comes from the first affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University. The event will last until the 26th.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nabuda, director of the General Office of the Lao Ministry of Health, said that the "Guangming trip" campaign provided free surgery for poor Lao cataract patients to restore their light. It has made a positive contribution to promoting the visual health of the Lao people and reducing the number of blind people.
"if you intersect with your heart, it will be a long time ago. Only by connecting the hearts and minds of the people can we lay a solid social and public opinion foundation for exchanges between the two countries. The 'Guangming trip' activities we have carried out are precisely the important measures to be carried out around the common hearts and minds of the people. " Liu Zehui, deputy secretary-general of the foundation, said at the ceremony.
Bensong Xishan, a 76-year-old patient, underwent cataract surgery in his right eye last year, this time in his left eye. He said he believes Chinese doctors, "last year's operation was completed in 10 minutes, eyesight has been very good recovery."
According to reports, since its establishment in November 2013, the Yunnan Folk International Friendship Exchange Foundation has actively carried out public welfare projects for the old, with the purpose of "conveying light, friendship, love, and family affection." So far, three "Guangming trip" activities have been carried out in Vientiane and Luang Prabang, Laos, providing a total of 474 Lao cataract patients with free surgical treatment, with a success rate of 100 percent.
