Wang Yi: the G20 should take the lead in promoting multilateralism
Xinhua News Agency, Nagoya, Japan, 23 Nov (Reporter Guo Dan) on 23 November local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Nagoya, Japan.
Wang Yi said that at present, the global economic momentum is weakening and the downside risks are significantly increased. Unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, and the world is full of instability and uncertainty. We should not stand idly by or sit back and talk about it, but should take positive action. Multilateralism is the "master switch" to solve all kinds of global problems. The practice of multilateralism should be aimed at safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, safeguarding fairness and justice and promoting mutual benefit and win-win results, and should be based on international law and the recognized basic norms of international relations. As the main forum for international economic cooperation, the G20 should take the lead in promoting multilateralism and come up with feasible solutions for the healthy development of the world economy.
