Wang Yi: make every effort to help Africa out of the trap of "no development"
Xinhua News Agency, Nagoya, Japan, 23 Nov (Reporter Guo Dan) on 23 November local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi attended the G20 Foreign Ministers' meeting in Nagoya, Japan.
Wang Yi said that China is doing its utmost to help Africa out of the trap of "no development." Underfunding is the biggest challenge to Africa's development, with an annual infrastructure investment shortfall of $100 billion. China generates more than $50 billion a year from infrastructure projects in Africa. The Inner Mongolia Railway, for example, has created nearly 50,000 jobs in the region, driving Kenya's economy to grow by about 1.5%. At the same time, China-Africa cooperation is South-South cooperation and mutual help between friends and brothers. China attaches importance to the debt problem, actively helps African countries to improve their debt management capacity, and gives necessary support to each other in the event of difficulties. China and Africa have made positive progress in co-building "Belt and Road Initiative" with high quality. "Belt and Road Initiative" is highly compatible with the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development, the 2063 agenda of the African Union, and the development strategies of African countries, forming a strong joint force for promoting common development.
